SHAMRAIN Enter Studio To Record New Album
December 17, 2004SHAMRAIN (formerly TEARS),the Finnish quartet who feature in their ranks ENTWINE frontman Mika Tauriainen, have entered the studio to begin recording their sophomore effort, tentatively titled "Shades of Blue". Recordings will take place at "the studios of Akun Tehdas, a big AV-house near Tampere, Finland," according to a posting on the group's web site. "Part of the recordings will be made in band's own Blue Room studio, in Mikkeli. Sessions will most likely last until the end of January. The plan is to capture 12-13 songs, of which 9-10 will form the album." A studio diary containing photos from the current recording sessions can be found at this location.
In other news, SHAMRAIN have announced the addition of guitarist Mikko Kolari to the group's ranks. "He has trained with us for a couple of months now, and will already be playing in our upcoming album," the band write.
SHAMRAIN's debut album, "Empty World Excursion", was released in November 2003 through Watch Me Fall Records. The follow-up to the group's "Pieces" mini-CD was recorded at F-Field Studio in Lahti and features a musical style which is being described as "atmospheric rock."
